Hugo Daugeron – Mijoin (President of Finetudes)

A quality to have: determination.

It all started in the second year of my Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, when I founded a media named “Clic-Clac Media”. I was interested in writing and being part of a team in order to create synergies. For 3 years, I managed this media it as if it was a multinational company. The audiences were poor, but I was happy to set up a project of which I was the leader.

Gradually, this project made me more proficient and I oriented myself towards Finance by doing the first year of my Master’s degree in “Money, Banking, Finance, Insurance” at the University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. During this year I decided to start another project, this time more ambitious and more structured. In 2016 I founded the Sorbonne’s Finance Association which is called “Les Taureaux du Panthéon” and I was its President until 2019. Since its creation, the association grew from 7 members to more than 200 active members. Our team managed to build up a real experience for our members by offering them several training courses such as the “LBO 2018 PROJECT” where teams competed against each other to answer the following question: “Can CARREFOUR Group carry out an LBO today? ». It was an unforgettable experience.

I finished my 2nd year of my Master Degree in Banking and Finance (loyal to the Sorbonne University of course) and presented my research thesis on Leveraged BuyOuts (LBO). Then, in the summer of 2019, I had another idea. I decided to create a think-tank in order to answer current issues around Finance. Having the experience of both a media association and a financial association, the implementation of a project that combines both was almost evident. Nowadays, FINETUDES is the reference in the field of financial research, making it possible to understand concepts that are rarely covered in the current media. Every month a study is published with an explanatory video to allow the uninitiated to better understand the topics. In brief, a new associative adventure had begun for me, with a team of about a hundred members, all over the world and extraordinary partners (including LU Investment and Finance Society of course!).

Certainly, the association takes up a part of my life, but the one that takes up the most of it and makes me get up every morning at 6:00 am, is my job as a corporate relationship manager. I was hired at LCL, a Crédit Agricole Group subsidiary, in October 2019. I needed human contact, to acquire new business skills and to know more about financial analysis: this job fulfilled all these characteristics. Today, I help my corporate clients to develop their business by supporting them in their day-to-day and long-term issues. It’s a demanding and dynamic job. I don’t see my days spent, the team is really great and there are so many career prospects.

But I will not lie to you, LBOs are a kind of passion of mine (but I hope you understood it by now). I want to go in that direction. I think that LBO deals are so powerful, a real form of purity in the world of Finance. That’s why I read a lot about LBO news, write about it and love talking to experts on the subject.

As you may understand, I was a child who tried his best to be like the grown-ups. I showed my determination and was able to develop many skills. Today I feel fully developed and I hope that this is only the beginning. I am 25 years old and yet I feel that tomorrow will be even more beautiful than yesterday.

So always bear in mind that determination can get you where you want to be.
